  • 3 February, 2014

IM000982.JPGAvangreen begins the development and construction of a 30MW solar plant in the region of Dakar, Senegal. The construction of the first phase has already started with a budget of $ 20 million.

This project is the largest solar plant in West Africa and will enable the development of energy infrastructure in the main area of development of the Senegalese capital, Dakar. Nowadays, the energy production in Senegal depends almost exclusively on thermal plants based on fossil fuels that Senegal has to import from other countries.
Avangreen shall introduce significant positive changes:

Reducing energy dependence of Senegal, currently based on importing fuel for its thermal power plants.

Subsequently significant savings via reductions in the fuel bill. For example, this project alone, will generate over $ 15 million savings per annum.

Reducing the environmental impact of the country”s current energy model.

Currently, Avangreen develops other projects of the same characteristics not just in Senegal but also in other countries of the African continent.
