Avangreen starred in the number 859 (from 11 to 17 February 2013) of the major business magazine Nouvel Horizon. Now you can read a translation of the article published in this weekly publication of Dakar:

“Three projects in one

260 billion CFA francs! This is the total amount of the ambitious program that is going to be developed in Sebikotane by Avangreen, the Spanish company whose CEO, Manuel Gómez Gutiérrez-Torrenova, is visiting in Dakar.

Composed of three parts, it has the distinction of three projects grouped into one as it is for Avangreen to perform an industrial area and help to reduce the deficit of Senegal in the production of energy and the gap in housing. Conceived as a three-year project, it was to be conducted in Bambilor initially, but finally Avangreen opted to choose Sebikotane, which has the advantage of proximity to the axis Diamniadio-Diass, destined to become a major economic focus with the implementation of the Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) and the completion of the infrastructure project which is the turnpike. After last month”s visit by a delegation composed of the President of the Canary Islands, the head of Mitsubishi and of course the CEO of Avangreen, he remained in Dakar on February 4 for final adjustments to the implementation of the project. It should be noted that the subsidiary Avangreen Senegal has finished installing in the area and has already entered in its active phase. The project, funded entirely by Avangreen without any financial compensation from the State of Senegal, will address the construction of industrial infrastructure of last generation.

Energy production is expected from 200 megawatts at 10 megawatts per year once the project begins. One of the more attainable goals is to associate solar energy, wind power and biomass. As for housing, Avangreen’s CEO, Manuel Gómez Gutiérrez-Torrenova, said that 2,000 homes will be built, all of them solar powered. It should be noted that after the pilot phase Dakar, Avangreen, accompanied in this project by the Spanish Government, Mitsubishi, Air Products and the world leader in the installation of energy, plans to launch the same program in cities like St. Louis, Ziguinchor and Kaolack. So, at this point, its contribution can be essential in the effort to the socio-economic development of Senegal.”
